County Tax Assessor-Collector

The Gillespie County Tax-Assessor Collector's Office handles boat transactions for Gillespie County residents only. 

The Gillespie County Tax Assessor-Collector's office provides many services for the County.

The Office collects registration and title fees for the public and all automobile dealers in the area for motor vehicles, trailers, as well as boat and motor titles and registrations.

The Office bills and collects the County Occupation Tax portion of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) license renewals.

  • No TPWD boat/motor title transfers transactions after 3 pm
  • No DMV motor vehicle title work transactions after 3:30 pm

The Gillespie County Tax Assessor Collector's office continues to practice social distancing and customers are asked to wait in line until invited to enter the office. Customers should enter the office through the entry door and leave the office through the exit door.

We ask that customers have all documents, government-issued ID, and form of payment ready before they enter the office. Please check the list below to ensure that you are ready to finalize your transaction when you come into the office.

Texas Vehicle Title Transfer (Vehicle Sale / Purchase)

  • Vehicle Title - Back of title completed
  • Application for Title - Form 130-U completed
  • Insurance showing purchaser as an insured driver
  • Inspection report if registration is not current
  • Government-Issued ID and form of payment - Cash, Check or Credit/Debit Card

Out-of-State Vehicle Title Transfer

  • Out-Of-State Title/Proof of Registration
  • Application for Title - Form 130-U Completed
  • Insurance - with Texas Liability Equivalencies
  • Government-Issued ID and Form of Payment - Cash, Check or Credit/Debit Card

Texas Vehicle Registration Renewals

  • Insurance
  • Vehicle Registration Paperwork
  • Government Issued ID and Form of Payment - Cash, Check or Credit/Debit Card

Out-of-State to Texas Vehicle Registration

  • Proof of Last Out-of-State Registration
  • Proof of Texas Liability Insurance
  • Completed Application for Texas Title/Registration - Form 130-U
  • Government-Issued ID and Form of Payment - Cash, Check or Credit/Debit Card

Farm vehicle/trailer transactions require proof of an AG/timber number. 

Boat / Motor / Trailer Title Transactions

  • Boat Title plus Completed PWD-143 form Vessel/Boat Title Application
  • Outboard Motor Title Plus Completed PWD-144 Form Outboard Motor Title Application
  • Boat Trailers must be registered in the applicant's county of residence with completed form 130-U Application for Texas Title.
  • Government-Issued ID and Form of Payment - Cash, Check and/or Credit/Debit Card.
  • Customers may continue to handle vehicle registrations online or through the mail.

Reminder: The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles does not issue driver licenses or state ID cards. Texans should contact the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) for these services.
