Resolution Opposing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Gillespie County (PDF)

 

Gillespie County Commissioners signed a Resolution opposing the development of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in the County. Also, included in the resolution was their support for the proposed legislation State Representative Ellen Troxclair introduced to mitigate the risks presented by the operation of the BESS projects. Troxclair and State Representative Wes Virdell introduced 2 House bills. One would give cities and counties regulation power over certain electric energy storage facilities and the other would require entities to obtain permits from the Public Utility Commission before installing a BESS.  

The Marshall Springs Solar Farm and Battery Storage Project is a 1,000-acre industrial energy development by AMPYR Energy, planned at Clear Springs Rd between State Highway 16 North and Lower Crabapple Road (east–west), and Country Creek Lane and Old Willow Road (north–south).
